Everyone..I would like you to meet Ruby!
Yes, we have added another member to the Mathis Farm! Let me start from the beginning. On Thursday night I went to dinner with some friends from high school. (I wont tell you how long ago high school was for me!) I knew what Tobin and Sarah had planned while I was gone...but never would I have imagined it would end this way! Living in the country leaves us with LOTS and LOTS of rabbits..and coyotes. Wednesday night while Tobin was feeding the dogs he found a momma rabbit, which had met a coyote and the coyote won, and her babies beside her. Tobin came in and told Sarah and she wanted to go see them NOW! He told her when he got home the next night they could go rabbit hunting (or rabbit rescuing as it would later be called). So, as soon as they got home off the went on their hunt! (sorry the picture is so bad...Tobin took it from his phone). While at dinner I got a call from a VERY excited little girl SCREAMING in my ear they caught a rabbit...and she helped get the bucket. It was sooo cute. As I drove home I thought about how excited she was to have caught the rabbit and if she was sad when they let it go. My heart kinda broke for her..she is such a sap for animals! Well, my heart was mended rather quickly when I opened the front door and Sarah whispered "Walk slowly..the rabbit is sleeping". My eyes quickly shot darts at Tobin, and his response was silence. There was "Ruby", as Sarah informed me was his/her (I'm not checking!!!) name, in a Rubbermaid box scared out of his mind. Ruby is only 2-3 weeks old and is missing his mom pretty bad. I just looked at Tobin and said "You know..we cant get rid of it now!" He finally spoke and said "I know!" So yesterday I went to Wal-Mart and got some bedding and food for our new family member. At first I didn't want to keep him, just another pet to take care of..but the little thing has grown on me. We syringed fed him milk last night, but after reading (Thank u for the Internet) his is to old for milk. So we put an apple peel in there and this morning it was gone. Last night he didn't want any part of me holding him, but today he just laid in my hands and fell asleep while Sarah was petting him! Yes, I am in love with this little guy! He ( I keep saying he..but I really don't know the gender) is so sweet and tiny! So, Old McMathis had a farm..E I E I O..and on his farm he now has a RABBIT!!! Geeezzzz..the downside of living in the country!
On a side note: Ruby's sibling didnt make it. They found him when they found Ruby. Tobin and Sarah burried him. Sarah told me that night.."God is taking care of him now..he is in God's hands!" Thank you God for giving us such wonderful loving child..who also knows you are the caretaker of all things!

What a weekend!
Sunday, after church, we drove all the way across Texas (well actually to Plano, but when you live in little Krum, Texas anything outside of Denton is far) to my aunt and uncles house. My whole family was there, as well as LOTS of good food! We brisket, potato salad (my moms who makes the best in the WHOLE world), hot dogs, sausage, rolls, beans. Then there was dessert..let me tell you my family can bake!! My aunt brought a sopaphia (sp?) cheesecake, my cousin made apple dumplings (if you have never had these you are missing out..they are ridiculous..in a good way!!), homemade key lime pie, and a homemade lemon icebox cake. I have figured out with this pregnancy that sweets trigger nausea..however my lunch had already made me nauseated so I went ahead with dessert..cause no more harm could be done! IT WAS SO GOOD! It did prolong my nausea, but it was worth it! It was an awesome day! My cousin brought her new blessing Cade! He is 2 1/2 weeks old and he is such a pretty baby..Sorry Mandy but he is pretty :)..I got to hold him, and as I did I was so excited as I thought about the new arrival we will have in October. God is good..and if you do not believe in God hold a newborn child and there will be no doubt that a mighty and powerful God does exist!
Here is a picture of Sarah helping hold Cade..When Tobin told her there was a baby there she gleefully yelled "Is it mommy's baby?" She is beyond excited!!
This is my cousin DJ..somewhere they found this wig and he came out in the middle of everyone with it on! It was hilarious..the picture does not do justice as to how funny the real thing was. He is always making us laugh!
I ask that you continue to keep the Cogburn Family in your prayers. It has been a week and half since Bell passed and I'm sure as life tries to return to normal things began to become a little more difficult! Shannan (the father) returned to work yesterday and Tobin said you could tell he was just getting by. I also ask that you pray for Tobin as he tries to comfort Shannan during this difficult time! Tobin, Sarah and I are taking dinner to them tomorrow. I am going to try and set up a Care Calendar to help out with meals for this sweet family. I hope to talk to them about this tomorrow! I appreciate your prayer you have already given..
Well, thank you God for this awesome day. It smells so good outside..and the much needed rain helped things green up. Also, thank u God for Zyrtec!
Take Care! Love you all!

Just Cleaning in the Rain..just cleaning in the Rain!
She could not wait for Tobin to get home so she could go stomp around in mud puddles. (I was not wanting to get out in the cold or rain...so daddy step up to the challenge). Anyways, Tobin got home and she ran and got her rain boots on and out she went. We also bundled her up with two jackets to keep her little body warm. And off they went! They were outside for about 10 minutes when I heard her crying..on the way inside she had fallen face first on the ground and was crying cause she got wet from the fall. Never mind the fact that she was ALREADY soaking wet from the rain and puddles..:) She came in and I made her some hot cholcolate and changed her clothes!

Introducing Peanut Mathis!
Blast Ball and Bangs..
So last night was blast ball..what a beautiful night. Tobin and I kept saying the way home that we had not had that much fun in a long time. Our little doodle bug ran out on the field with no fear at all. She never looked back to see if we were coming..which in a way made me sad. ( I know she wasn't leaving for college..but for those of you who really know Sarah she is painfully shy at times and almost never jumps feet first into anything without holding our hands!). So there she was, our little girl, playing her first sport. She did really well..for about the first 15 minutes..then her, Molly, and Ainsley decided it would be more fun to draw in the dirt. The boys were focused on the task at hand..but the girls thought the field needed a makeover. But the assistant coaches (which Tobin silently volunteered for) steered them back in. She was great in the field..she was always running to get the ball when it was hit..in fact she out ran a boy one time..her daddy was so proud. When she got up to bat it was great..the bat is 10 times longer and heavier then her, but she made do. She hit the ball really hard and ran with all her might to first base..which honks when you step on it. Tobin and I are so proud of how well she did..she listened to Coach Micah and always did what she was asked. She was zapped when she got home..we had a bath and off to bed she went. She just keeps saying how fun blast ball was!
She was running in the opposite direction of the batter!
Coach Micah giving them a first practice talk! Go Team Bruins!
We have practice again on Tuesday, so I will try and get better pictures!
Now the bangs part of my title...
I decided to "try" and grow out Sarah's bangs..cause it made her look so much older, and all the little girls in her class have grown theirs out. So for the past few months I have gritted my teeth as I look at her and all I can see is hair. But..with the encouragement of others I pushed through. And longer and longer they grew. It had gotten so bad she was constantly looking at the sky so she could see outside that mass of hair! Then..last night on the way home from blast ball..while she was all hot and sticky..she exclaimed "I want to cut my hair..I don't like it..I can't see". I screamed on the inside..I didn't give up first, after all I have to make my little girl comfortable so she can play at her fullest potential. (ok that was a bit much, but I really was glad it wasn't me who wanted to end the experiment early). So this morning, after breakfast, I pulled out my scissors and snipped away. And under all the hair I found those beautiful hazel eyes..that just make me smile when I see them. All she kept saying is "I can see"..oh little Sarah mommy is so sorry to have put you through the torture of bang growing! So what did I learn.you might say not to want what other people have, and maybe a part of me did learn just that! But I mainly learned bangs will be in style for her until she is old enough to do her own hair!! Here is the after pictures of her (the the pink stuff around her lips is lipstick..she found a play kit that she has had forever! Which not only was it on her lips..she stepped on it and smashed it into my WHITE rug! Any suggestions on getting that stuff out??)
Here are some better pictures that my parents took at blast ball!

This could be rather lengthy...
Let's see what else..well Sarah starts blast ball practice tonight. What is blast ball..well is a faster paced version of tee ball. Her and her best friend Molly (or as we call her Little Miss Molly) are on the same team. So cute! It has not rained in months and they are now saying rain is moving in later today. Just the luck of the Mathis Crew..Anyways, I will post pictures of her practice tomorrow! Well if we have one..:)
I have also been sick the last few weeks. Not from the baby (well kinda..thanks to the nausea) but from illness. I had the flu a few weeks ago, and all I got was a pat on the back and was told to take Tylenol. Luckily mom came to the rescue and took off two days to keep Sarah! THANKS MOM! After the third day I finally felt like I was alive again. The flu stinks..and I hope to never have it visit me again! THEN..last week I came down with a cold which then turned into bronchitis..which as of today I still have. Please pray for my health, as well as the baby's. I have awesome doctors who are watching me closely and only prescribing what is necessary!
(Told you this would be long)
Lastly, I want to ask for your prayers for a sweet little family that lost a child this weekend. Tobin's co-worker Shanan received a call last Tuesday, at work, that his 3 year old daughter, Bell, was having an asthmatic arrest and her heart had stop beating 4 times while in the ER. They then care flighted her to Cook's Children in Ft. Worth were she slipped into a coma. This sweet angel went home to Jesus Friday night at 9:45 pm. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for this family. They also have a 6 year old who I'm sure is so confused right now. I can not even wrap my brain around the thought of losing a child..it has just made me hug Sarah a little tighter and give that extra 10 kisses every night!
So, that should have updated you on the Mathis Crew. I will try and post daily (as time and Sarah allows). Take Care!
Much Love and Blessings!
The Mathis 3 (soon to be 4)
Also..I wanted to give much love and thanks to Liz for helping me putting this awesome blog together! Actually..she designed the whole thing..i just put in the post! THANKS LIZ!!!
